Melissa's story

I think my story is best summed up in a timeline of significant life events:

August 2004- Left my home and family in Arizona to start college in Virginia.

Roomies

June 24th 2005- Married my other half, Garren.

Honeymoon, we look like we're 14 years old. . .

 

May 2006- Went to England for School.

April 2007- Become a mother to Joshua.

August 2007- Moved to Portsmouth, Virginia

Loved living so near the beach!

 

May 2007- Graduated College with a Bachelor's degree in English from Southern Virginia University

August 2008- Moved to Roanoke, Virginia

2008- Diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome type III, a genetic disorder I always knew I had, but wasn't officially diagnosed until this time. The official diagnosis is Ehlers-Danlso Syndrome type III
with types I and II characteristics.

March 2010- Become mother to Miriam.

November 2011- A significant event happened in the business and family that is referred to often on this blog as it was a changing point in my life. It was either going to make me or break me. For it while it was looking like it would break me. But I was able to come out of it and let it define me for good. I continue to struggle with it, but am continue to learn and grow from it on a daily basis and continue to improve daily. To read about the experience you may click on the link below. But please don't ask me about it as I am not talking about it anymore except to tell you how I have learned from it and what I continue to learn from it.

 

August 2013- Took family to Ireland to run a half marathon!

 

 

January 2014- Took family to Disneyland to run that Neverland family 5k

 





 

 

Notable upcoming events:
April 27th, 2014- MARATHON! I am running a qualifying marathon for the Boston marathon.
July 23, 2014- Butler family vacation to the cabin
July 2014- Officially "retire" from WTbM
November 2014, Second qualifying marathon for Boston because I don't think I'll make the first. . .
Jan 2015- Disneyland race again with Butler Family
February 2015- Finish novel (goal date)
April 2015- Boston Marathon (fingers crossed I won't have to delete this from my upcoming events)
Jan 2016 Olympic Marathon trials ( hahaha! I can dream. . . )
May 2016- Family Disney Cruise
June 2018- Family hike in the Swiss Alps (yes, I plan way ahead! It's the only way we can do big stuff. Just save up $20 a month and by 2018 you can hike for ten days in the Swiss Alps)!
