Melissa's Faith

Please visit LDS.org to learn more about the Mormon faith and invite the missionaries into your home to hear the message of peace that the gospel of Jesus Christ can bring to your life and your home.

I have undergone some significant changes in my life the past few years. I have gone from rock bottom to back on top in a matter of three years. I tried to figure out the way myself and failed miserably. But in failing I learned that the only way to get through this life well, accomplished and successful is in and through Jesus Christ. This is because Heavenly Father has a plan for us. And the more time we take trying to figure it out on our own the more time is wasted. Until we start living our life doing what Heavenly Father has sent us here to do the more time we waste, the more we struggle, the more pain we feel and experience. I have never felt more success, happiness and joy in my life then when I am doing what I feel Heavenly Father would have me do. Everything else is a waste. No, it isn't always fun and it doesn't always feel great. But the bottom line is that you have to do what you know is right even if you aren't good at it yet.

So how do you know what Heavenly Father wants you to do with the life he gave you? Start small. Have faith that He does, indeed, have a purpose for you life. Seek it out through the correct channels and avenues, these being prayer, scripture study, members of the church. You will not find it on your own because it isn't readily available on a website, or a tv show or a book. It's inside of you and you can access it through the help and guidance of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. But take baby steps. And if you fall backwards, don't feel like a failure or that you don't have purpose. Just get back up again and start over. Because there is a purpose. And Heavenly Father desires that you find that purpose and live it!

I know Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us. I am still finding mine and record my experiences in discovering that here on the blog.

Please be open to the missionaries or to what you feel if you choose to browse LDS.org. There is truth to be found there. I wish I could say it resolves all life problems and brings peace. But that is something only you can do for yourself. I was betrayed a few years ago and it has been a long journey to recover from. I tried to heal on my own, but I have found that I couldn't do it without the Savior Jesus Christ. Church did not fix me. It did not heal me. It did not make everything right. There were times when the church actually brought great sadness and despair to my concerning these matters of betrayal. And it would have been easier to deal with if I had left the church. But I realize now that those thoughts were from my limited understanding as a mortal human being. I do know that there will be greater understanding and answers in the after life and I will not risk abandoning my salvation because it makes it easier to deal with my thoughts and feelings. I tried very hard to deal on my own. But doing it on my own was a crash and burn. Healing through the help of the church and Jesus Christ has at least given me tools and a path to follow. This path cannot be discovered on ones own. The only way is through Jesus Christ. The only way to heal and the only way to truly live your life is through the love of Heavenly Father and the atonement of Jesus Christ.
